Canada’s favourite rambunctious rockers, Simple Plan, announced their cross-Canada tour today. The national tour is presented by Rogers and will begin in St. John’s, Newfoundland and will hit Halifax, Moncton, Saint John, Chicoutimi, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, London, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The Canadian tour is presented in conjunction with MuchMusic.

Following Simple Plan’s Quadruple Platinum debut release in 2002, the band have released two subsequent albums, a live album, a DVD, had a string of radio hits with “I’d Do Anything,” “Addicted,” “Perfect,” and “Welcome To My Life,” crossed five continents and played thousands of shows. Along the way, the band picked up a few hundred thousand fans and sold more than seven million albums worldwide. Simple Plan’s 2004 release Still Not Getting Any has also surpassed Quadruple Platinum certification in Canada. The band has been recognized with many, many awards in Canada over their career including: “Favourite Canadian Band Award” at the MuchMusic Video Awards for a record breaking four years in a row (2003-2006), “People’s Choice Award for Favourite Canadian Group” at the 2006 Junos, the “Rock Group” at the 2005 Teen Choice Awards and the 2006 ADISQ award for “Most Popular Artist Outside of Quebec.”

Simple Plan recently released their self-titled third album and it has already surpassed Platinum certification in Canada. Simple Plan is not just an album but a statement of artistic ambition and growth from the Montreal-based quintet. As you'd expect from any band that would call its debut album No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls, the self-titled release is a fearless, without-a-net excursion into dynamic music-making, taking what we love best about Simple Plan -- the unbridled energy, the ripping guitars, the hook-filled melodic sensibility -- and incorporating a slew of inventive sonic approaches informed by new collaborators such as Nate "Danja" Hills (Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Duran Duran, Nelly Furtado), Max Martin (James Blunt, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne), and Dave Fortman (Evanescence, Mudvayne).

Don’t miss Simple Plan when they take the stage in St.John’s at the Mile One Centre on August 19th! A worldwide legion of fans can testify to the power of one of the fiercest live shows ever to hit the stage.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, May 3rd at 10AM. Tickets are $42.50 including tax, plus applicable surcharge and can be purchased at the Mile One Box Office; by phoning (709) 576-7657, (toll free) at 1 800 361-4595 or online at www.admission.com
