(St. John's, NL) Rock and roll icon, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are coming to Mile One Saturday June 2, 2012 and Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers belong to a special class of artists. A class comprised of those few acts that have sustained decades-long careers despite the restlessness of popular music's audience. They have scored hits in five different decades while selling tens of millions of records along the way. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during their first year of eligibility and have garnered accolades and awards too many to mention. Through it all their uncompromising integrity has never wavered while their concert tours have become things of legend.
Tom Petty has said the Heartbreakers are first a live band. Critics have said they are one of the few great live rock 'n roll bands still playing today. The audience spoke loudest of all in 2010 when Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' last North American tour was their most successful, attended by more people than ever before.
Tom Petty, with the Heartbreakers at his side, is a rock and roll icon lauded by fellow musicians and music lovers worldwide. The band's upcoming performances in St. John's and Halifax will be their first ever in the Atlantic Provinces. The 'Live' show is, as expected, epic. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers remain one of those artists that not only maintains a loyal following, but returns that loyalty by being true to the original reason for forming a rock band - great music, great lyrics and a great rock performance.
That's why it's no surprise to see fans in their early teens, strutting around with their Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers swag, eager to escape from the 21st Century computerized studio production values for that pure sound of a great rock band. They are joined by those of us that have been on the journey for over 4 decades, and have shared in some of the best moments of music history, whether it's a Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers new album, greatest hits, or live concert.
Tickets go on sale on Saturday, December 17 at 12NOON. Tickets $79.50, $149.50, $169.50 plus tax and service charge. Tickets can be purchased at the Mile One Centre Box Office, by phoning (709) 576-7657 and online at www.mileonecentre.com.
