5th String Entertainment and Mile One Centre are pleased to welcome Canadian country music sensation Johnny Reid, with special guest George Canyon to St. John’s on Friday, May 7, 2010.
Since debuting on the country music scene in 2005 with his first album, Born To Run, Scottish-born, Canadian raised, Nashville-based Reid has wowed legions of fans around the world. His 2007 sophomore album, Kickin’ Stones, was certified Platinum in Canada, earning Reid Canadian Country Music Awards for Top-Selling Canadian Recording and Top Male Artist in 2008. Reid also earned a Juno Award nomination for Country Recording of the Year.
Reid’s third album, Dance With Me, is following the path of success this rising country star has mapped. Lead single “A Woman Like You,” went straight to heavy rotation at Country Music Television and was the #1 most added track at country radio upon its release.
When Johnny Reid decided to name his latest record Dance With Me, it was as much an invitation to his fans to get up and dance, as it was a call to celebrate the things that bring you home, even if home is thousands of miles away.
“Life gets busy,” he says simply. “You get caught up in work and the worry of life and business, and before you know it, it’s kids and school and basketballs, and you forget about the small things.”
Nova Scotia’s own country star George Canyon will join Johnny Reid at Mile One Centre. After his rocket-ride to fame in talent show Nashville Star 2 in 2004, Canyon was honoured with Canadian Country Music Awards, Juno Awards and fan accolades for his musical talents.
